Kareena: My Tashan Lies In My Attitude

She is the number one actress in Bollywood. It all started with the super-duper success of her last release JAB WE MET, which catapulted her to the top league. Post that she has been riding high in both her professional and personal life. With looks to die for and a pencil-thin figure, Kareena Kapoor is not only the highest paid actress in the country but also the flavour of the year. Now, the million-dollar babe is all set to re-enforce her numero uno status with her latest release Tashan.

Everybody's already raving about Kareena's Tashan in the film.

Says a source who has just seen the film, "With Tashan, Kareena has established her clout in the industry. She has never looked so scorching hot before on screen and she has never been so good in a film! She positively sizzles. Whatever the fate of the film, Kareena Kapoor is here to stay. She is numero uno."

That's Kareena's Tashan for you! And Kareena's ecstatic about all the praise she has received for Tashan. "I think it's a tailor made role for any actress. I think I am extremely lucky to get this role. It's like a hero's role, it has action, romance, song, dance everything in it besides which I think it has a lot of closeness to me, the kind of girl she is, very headstrong, knows her emotions."

The Numero Uno, Kareena Kapoor has proved to one and all with her performance in Tashan that there is nobody to shake her up and mess up with her race to fame!

Priyanka Chopra: Masti Time With Boys

The cast and crew of Karan Johar's 'Dostana' are having a whale of a time in Miami.

Since it's a seaside comedy about two guys, Abhishek and John Abraham, and the girl Priyanka Chopra, whom they woo, everyone is having a party on the job.

Says Priyanka from Miami, "After shooting non-stop for the serious and dramatic 'Fashion' with Madhur Bhandarkar in Mumbai this is just the break I needed. Not that we aren't working hard.

We have to complete the schedule by mid-May so we're working till late evening and starting early in the morning. But it's a very funny film. And Abhishek and John are friends first, co-stars later."

Abhishek's better-half, Aishwarya, and John's girl, Bipasha, are expected to join the masti in Miami shortly.

Priyanka, sadly, will have to be without the love of her life. Harman Baweja is working fast and furiously on his debut film 'Love Story 2050' back home.

Skin Show Helps Others Not Mallika!

Bollywood femme fatal Mallika Sherawat may have made her list of aasiques long with a fan following consisting from directors, producers and crazy-going audience, but her banging luck still couldn’t open the door of biggies of Bollywood.

And hyping jealousy enough, the almost unknown face of the recent flop Red Swastick, Sherlyn Chopra, has managed her alley to the Yash Raj films just after a sizzling appearance in the music album Outrageous.

Mallika may have worked with top actors of Bollywood such as Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Dharmendra and many like them but working under real big banners has always been dreams of most of the industry people. And Mallika, being a beautiful part of the industry, may not be very different from others.

Well, whatever be the fact or fiction, fans of this bomb-shell have something to cheer for as the actress would soon be seen portraying different characters in her upcoming films.

Mallika is reliving the character of Anarakali in Sanjay Chel’s Maan Gaye Mughle Azam. On the other hand Mallika would be seen opposite Ranveer Shourey in Pritish Nandi’s comic chapter Agli Aur Pagli.

Apart from these the actress is also working in Ravi Walia’s Fauj Mein Mauj and Kamal Hassan’s Southee flick Dashavataram where she is portraying the character of an I A agent.

Only time would tell whether these films would help Mallika in making an impression to help in grabbing big banners or not.

If she succeeds in it, then the next question will arise as whether she will be able to maintain a good rapport with the biggies.

Since, we all are aware the kind of bitter relationship she shares with Mahesh Bhatt who bestowed her with Murder, the biggest hit in Mallika’s career.

'Katrina Was Dropped For Film Length'

Director Siddharth Anand says he knocked off the section of “Bachna Ae Haseeno” that was to feature Katrina Kaif because the film was getting too long. “If we had kept Katrina’s portion ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ would’ve been one of the longest films in the history of Hindi cinema - much beyond three hours.”

The director admits it wasn’t easy breaking the news to Katrina.

“Nobody had the heart to break the news to her. When she heard she was out, Katrina was really upset. What to do? In fact, Katrina’s track was one of our favourites, but she saw our point of view when she saw the film,” Anand told IANS.

Ranbir Kapoor plays the main lead in this romantic comedy and will be seen courting Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone.

“The only reason we dropped the Katrina track was because it hadn’t been shot. Otherwise, she’s the biggest star we’ve in our film. Katrina has had only one flop in her entire career. Dropping her track had upset all of us,” he added.

For Anand, directing his childhood chum was inevitability. Not only are their parents close friends, but Ranbir and Anand also grew up together.

In fact, the two had made a pact that they would start their careers together. But then Anand got busy with his two back-to-back Saif Ali Khan starrers.

“Ranbir and I are like brothers. I know him from the time he was born. I’m shocked by Ranbir’s expertise in front of the camera. In my film, he’ll be completely different from the way he was in ‘Saawariya’. Ranbir is full ready on the sets. Superb energy and a great dancer.”

So how does it feel to be making his third romantic comedy?

“‘Salaam Namaste’ was a romantic comedy, but ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ was a family drama. I never executed it as a romantic comedy. It didn’t do as well. Probably my concept of poverty, not getting good food, didn’t jell with the audience. That was my interpretation of poverty because I’m a foodie and not getting great food is the biggest deprivation for me. I need good food to keep me happy, healthy and fat.

“Anyway, people have been catching up on it belatedly on the cable and DVD. I was happy the producers didn’t lose money. ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is again a romantic comedy. I feel it stretches the genre.”

His film releases Aug 15. “I just saw my poster with the date and my hands went cold.”

The director feels there’s an instant connectivity with the audience through the title.

“And it’s not just because Rishi uncle sang the words ‘Bachna ae haseenon’. Anyone who’ll see my film will know it’s the most apt title. However, Ranbir being in the film, the title does acquire an added dimension.”

Like his last two films, Yash Raj Films is producing this one as well and Anand says the banner is like a second home for him.

“I’ve been part of the banner for 10 years. I started by assisting on ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’” He now plans to make a film for Sajid Nadiadwala.

The director who has worked with big names believes that stars bring in the audience.

“But I think a film like ‘Taare Zameen Par’ would’ve worked even without Aamir Khan. We’ve some supremely talented actors like Irrfan Khan and Kay Kay Menon. Hopefully, I’ll be working with them soon.”

Rani Skips Marriage Talk At Soap Launch

t was what you'd describe as a family affair. Bollywood star Rani Mukherjee and her entire family showed up to lend support to her brother Raja Mukherjee who launched his new television soap Kisi Ki Nazar Na Lage on Monday in Mumbai.

While the actress stayed away from prying cameras and inquisitive reporters, her brother was happy to do the talking on her behalf.

“She was not well, and she asked me to cancel the event, but I couldn't since I had made all arrangements. So I asked her to come if she cannot talk,” Raaja explained.

Sadly for the brother, he couldn't escape the obvious question that was on everyone's minds about Rani's supposedly impending marriage with filmmaker Aditya Chopra.

“It’s just a rumour. See Rani is working with Yash Raj Films, she is doing a lot of work with them. Aditya is just her producer. It’s a professional relationship, so that doesn't mean she having an affair with him,” Raaja said.

With Rani turning out to be the centre of attention, it's no surprise few seemed keen to talk about the show that was being launched at the occasion.

Perhaps, Rani might consider making a special appearance on the soap so that we talk about the show for a change!

Saif, Kareena Gets A New Admirer!!!

Both Darsheel Safary and Kareena Kapoor have one thing in common. No, not Saif Ali Khan, but Aamir Khan.

Darsheel, who with his rocking performance and bucktoothed grin, won over the audiences of Taare Zameen Par, even had producer-director Aamir eating out of his hands. Aamir readily admitted defeat in all his pre-release interviews and said that Darsheel was the hero of the film.

Now, Kareena Kapoor may be on the arm of Saif Ali Khan, but admits to being a die-hard fan of another Khan, Aamir.

It is another matter that Kareena went on record in her early stardom days that she would give anything to star with Shah Rukh Khan, who she claimed was a peformer without parallel.

Okay, so Aamir adores Darsheel, and Kareena adores Aamir. But this wonderful equation works out like this: Darsheel has said in his latest interview that he adores Kareena!

Being nominated under the Best Actor category at the Filmfare Awards, little Darsheel Safary's moving performance had him competing with four adult superstars, including Shah Rukh, whom in an earlier interview he precociously dismissed as no competition!

Ask all those who have watched Taare Zameen Par which actor rules their heart and the answer is Darsheel Safary. Of course, SRK is not one to give any quarter to anyone, adult or child, and bagged the Best Actor award anyway

In a recent television interview Darsheel candidly admitted that he was a Kareena Kapoor fan and the one thinbg he was looking forward to, after Taare Zameen Par, was to meet the vivacious actress in person at some award function.

After Darsheel, it is Kareena's turn with Aamir as she will be acting opposite the pint sized superstar in Raju Hirani's next film. Reportedly Kareena is very excited about being paired opposite the intense Khan.

Kareena has worked with SRK and Salman and now Saif, too. But never with Aamir before. Her elder sister Karisma had paired magnificently with Aamir in Raja Hindustani years ago. With Raju's film, she should make a fabulous pair with Aamir.

Trade insiders are equally axcited at the prospect and are touting the Aamir-Kareena duo to be bigger than the first-time pairing of Aamir and Kajol in Fanaa. If Kajol was making a kind of comeback as numero uno, today it is Kareena who is ruling the roost.

I’m Not Getting Married: Katrina Kaif

It’s that time of the year again – the time when gossipmongers rear their heads to announce that Katrina Kaif is getting married to Salman Khan.

The most interesting fact is that rumour mills even decide dates and mahurats for the multiple (and, apparently, annual) Sallu-Kat weddings they’ve organised in the recent past.

This time, the grapevine says that the wedding is going to happen ‘very soon’ and ‘only close friends and relatives will be a part of it’.

Well, Kat remains unperturbed. When we asked her about the rumours, she replied, “These rumours are completely false and ridiculous. I am not getting married. These are silly people playing games by spreading these rumours. I’d also like to add that I’m booked every day of this year already for my films.”

So she’s precluded the possibility of getting married any time again this year. Then why is it that people don’t stop talking about Salman and her and why don’t the two of them take a stand on this? “It is because people know that both Salman and I do not comment on our private lives ever,” she answers.

Occasions where similar rumours have been spread before:

The first time these rumours surfaced was when Salman came to Kat’s rescue by lodging a formal complaint with the police against Mumbai’s 25-year-old Vasant Giri for sending vulgar text messages to Katrina.

It was said that since Salman had openly supported Kat, the next thing surely would be marriage.

Rumour no 2 – Gossipmongers said that Katrina and Salman secretly married before an award ceremony in Singapore. This was done, purportedly, to teach a lesson to Abhiash who were going to tie the knot soon after. Katrina had dismissed the rumour, saying that it was “utter rubbish”.

The third rumour was that Katrina and Salman had secretly married in the presence of a maulvi in Mumbai. When we contacted Kat on the same day, she said, “I’m in South Africa shooting with Saif Ali Khan.”

And more recently, Katrina walked out of a press meet in Delhi’s Kamala Nehru College because somebody asked her if Salman actually slapped her at a café in Mumbai.
